STUDY AIM
To assess the diagnosis of APML with variant translocations using in standard dual-color dual-fusion PML/RARa FISH analysis complimented by karyotyping to detect these variant RARA translocations.
Methods
This is a report an individual case study of a 27-year old man with APML.
Results
This case study highlighted the importance of atypical FISH signal patterns in standard dual-color dual-fusion PML/RARA FISH analysis complimented by karyotyping to detect these variant RARA translocations.
Conclusion
This brief communication adds to the literature on this rare entity, highlighting the challenges in diagnosis and management, reiterating the poor prognosis associated with this entity.
